Allergies – ugh. It’s horrible when you have an allergic reaction to something. It’s hard to carry on with “life as normal” when you’re feeling yucky. Luckily though, you don’t need to resort to chemicals and medication. Instead, make these simple juices for allergies – you’ll be getting natural goodness inside you (instead of chemicals), and you’ll feel so much better!

Instead of your morning cappuccino, grab your juicer and make one of these refreshing fresh juices!

If you don’t have a juicing machine (juicer), but you do have a blender, you can adapt these recipes by peeling and de-seeding and coring the ingredients where necessary. You’ll get some fiber in your drink when you blend so they’ll be more filling.

Ginger Pear Juice

This will make quite a tart juice, it’s very refreshing and great for allergies.

  • cocktails - kombucha tea recipesHalf a pear
  • Half a tangerine orange
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tsp freshly-squeezed lemon juice

Juice all ingredients and drink immediately for best results.

Notes:

  • Substitute a Granny Smith apple for the pear if you like it really tart!
  • This will make only a small drink, which makes it easier for allergy-stressed throats.
  • If you don’t have a juicer, you can also make this drink in the blender. You’ll need to grate the ginger first, remove the pear core, and peel and de-seed the tangerine. It will make a larger amount.

Sinus Cleanser

This is what you need when your sinuses are blocked and/or sore

  • ginger natural remedies for headaches1 small orange, peeled
  • 1 tsp freshly-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 small apple, chopped, peeled if not organic
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
  • cayenne spice (to add after juicing)

Juice all ingredients and pour into a serving glass. Sprinkle cayenne pepper on top – as much or as little as you like.

Notes:

If the juice is too strong, juice another apple or two and add the juice into the mix.

Parsley Allergy Buster

John Heinerman wrote Heinerman’s Encyclopedia of Healing Juices. In it, he describes how he cured his own allergy-caused sneezing by eating (well, drinking) parsley. He also shares another example of a man who drank parsley juice every single day for 2 weeks. In three days, his itchy and watery eyes were better; in five days, his sneezing ceased; and within ten days, his allergies were a thing of the past. (Parsley juice may help with asthma too).

Try drinking a glass of parsley juice every day for 3 weeks. Then once your symptoms have disappeared, cut back to three times a week, and then once a week to maintain the results.

Parsley is a super herb with many benefits, but it also contains wonderful anti-inflammatory agents as well as Vitamin A which assists with mucous membrane problems, as well helping with the health of the respiratory tracts.

  • 2 cups / 60 g flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 cucumber (try to buy organic because a lot of the goodness is in or close to the skin – you may want to peel the cucumber to avoid pesticide residue if it’s not organic)
  • 2 lemons, peeled and de-seeded
  • 1 green apple e.g. Granny Smith
  • 1 inch / 2cm piece of ginger, peeled
  • 1 tsp raw local honey

Notes:

  • Strain and tweak to taste. You may want to add more apple or honey.
  • Dilute this juice with a little water, as it is very potent.
  • Drink it all immediately for maximum benefits.

Pure Pineapple

The Bromelain in pineapple helps fight allergies.

Juice half a pineapple.  (Or chop it smaller and blend it, with water if required to thin). Serve over ice if desired. Drink immediately for best results.

Notes:

  • If too much foam forms in your juicer’s chute, spoon it out and place directly in your glass – the foam will bubble away.
  • Add some ginger or cayenne pepper for an extra kick.
