These 5 Simple Snacks are Quick but Filling – and They’ll Curb Your Cravings Too !

You want a nice simple snack, just to keep you going. Did you know that when you taste a variety of flavors, you actually eat MORE?
Food manufacturers know that when you taste food that is sugary, salty, savory, crunchy, sweet and creamy, you keep on eating. (That’s great for their profits!).
That’s why processed foods and fast foods never fill you up. They taste good and you enjoy them – but shortly afterwards, you’re still hungry!
Why is that? Your brain recognizes that you have not yet eaten the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients it needs. So you continue to eat.
However, when your taste buds are given fewer flavours to process, you generally eat healthy portions.
If you stick to these 5 simple snacks for curbing cravings, you will
- eat less overall,
- enjoy more healthy foods,
- and limit your chances of unhealthy weight gain (and the health ailments that frequently go with it).
Cottage cheese and diced fruit
Add pineapple chunks, diced apple or any other fruit to some plain cottage cheese for a filling, healthy snack that satisfies you without the sugar-filled
“crash and burn” of processed snacks.
As always, it’s better to eat a little full-fat cottage cheese than a lot of low-fat cheese which is heavily processed and full of chemical additives to replace the fat.
Artichoke hearts
Artichoke hearts are super-healthy, and their dietary fiber is a low-calorie way to feel full quickly. Eat them fresh, or drain them first if you prefer the canned variety.
Pumpkin seeds
You can buy this yummy, crunchy natural food raw or roasted, with or without salt.

Yogurt and diced fruit
Yoghurt, like cottage cheese, comes in convenient single-serving containers. Add your favorite fruit to a small container of full-fat Greek yogurt and you’ll enjoy a great tasting, filling snack that is as portable and healthy as it is delicious.
Add some chia seeds too if you can, for an extra dose of antioxidants and omega-3.
(Again, avoid heavily-processed low fat options, and always add your own fresh fruit instead of buying “fruit flavored” yogurt).
A handful of walnuts or almonds
Simple snacks don’t come simpler than this! Long-lasting in an office desk drawer, purse, car or briefcase, almonds and walnuts are heart-healthy. They also fill you up quickly, deliver digestion-friendly dietary fiber, and a dash of protein for a quick energy boost.
