Can’t Find Sustainable? Do It Yourself!
Regular readers of this blog know that, although I try to make eco-friendly choices every day, I’m not hugely into green activism. I’m not out there in rough seas arguing with whaling ships, or climbing power station chimneys to hang huge banners.
There are many people who believe that quiet choices just aren’t enough, that people need to be shocked into changing, and that dramatic fights are the only way to make headlines and thus make people aware of the terrible things that go on in the world. While I can understand their argument, I won’t be joining them.
There are many people whom I admire, who make a difference. I particularly admire people who change their whole lifestyle for what they truly believe in.
So today, here is a short video on a UK couple who have done just that. They used tropical hardwoods in their work, and wanted to make sure that the wood they used, was sustainable. Not finding anyone else who could do this, they set off themselves!
That is a great story … real people making a real difference!

This reminds me of what’s going on at the Gibson Guitar plant in the US. They have tried to be eco friendly and protect the environment by repopulating forest but our government got in thier way. Well, in my semi-informed opinion.
I’ve heard of Gibson Guitars, they have a good reputation. I don’t know the details but that sounds like a real shame.
