After a successful sail from Europe to the US (in order to avoid the carbon emissions of flying), climate activist Greta Thunberg said “It’s insane that a 16-year-old has to cross the Atlantic in order to take a stand, but that’s how it is. It feels like we are at a breaking point. Leaders know that more eyes on them, much more pressure is on them, that they have to do something, they have to come up with some sort of solution. I want a concrete plan, not just nice words”. Quite right, Greta!
What to see this month: The full moon this month (Sept 14) is called the “Harvest Moon” because it provided the most light at a crucial time to complete the harvest. This type of full moon can occur in either September or October, since it’s tied to the autumnal equinox.
Sept. 23rd will be the first official day of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. (For those of us down here in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the first day of spring).

Heating your home in Winter can be expensive. But a new initiative in London (England) will help. The capital’s public transport rail system, known as the Tube, generates quite a lot heat when the trains run through the tunnels. This heat will now be transferred to nearby homes – experts say about 38 percent of heating demands in the city will be supplied by waste heat. This not only saves money, but also helps fight climate change – about a third of U.K. emissions are from heating.
