Feel Younger (Instantly) with These 5 Fun Activities

If You’re Worried About Growing Old, This Post Will Show You How to Feel Younger – Right Away!

Most people are scared of getting old.  But the truth is, you are only as old as you think you are. Here are 5 ways to re-develop your youthful mindset and feel younger.

1. Go Somewhere Different

Think back to when you were a child. Just leaving your house was exciting – because everywhere was brand new to you. Even a simple trip to the local shop was an adventure, because it was a place you hadn’t been to before.

The good news is that the excitement over new places doesn’t decrease with age. However, most places in your immediate life are familiar to you, so you don’t feel that excitement every day.

  • Make up a picnic, drive somewhere new, enjoy the scenery and have a lovely day out.
  • Walk around your neighbourhood. You’ll be surprised at what you can see.
  • Drive in a different direction, park, and walk in a new area.
  • Book a table at a new restaurant.
  • Plan a trip to a place you’ve never been to – near or far doesn’t matter, as long as you haven’t been there before.
  • Consider a staycation – an eco-friendly holiday where you immerse yourself in somewhere local.

You’ll be surprised at how excited you feel just from stepping outside your routine.

2. Learn Something New

Besides just going to a new place, consider picking up or trying a new skill. This could be something as easy as taking a pottery class, or something as big as studying for that degree you always wanted but never finished.

Learn to play the piano, a new language, a different way of cooking, discover decoupage, art – the list is truly endless.

By learning something new, you will keep your brain in a growth mindset, and this will help you feel worlds younger no matter what you decide to pursue.

3. Feel Younger by Spending Time With Children

Most of us forget this worldview as we age, but just spending time with children can help you feel more positive about your outlook on life.

(Plus, kids are often known to say the most hilarious things).

Volunteer to help family, friends and neighbors with their kids for a while – you might find you enjoy it.

4.Feel Younger by Keeping Active

It is absolutely critical to take steps to maintain physical fitness as you age. And there are so many choices!

Joining a gym or jogging are always popular but they are not your only choice.

Try a physically demanding hobby like gardening, or perhaps join a local hiking group.

You’ll be surprised at how much younger you feel just from regular physical activity, and you’ll probably feel more positive as you meet new friends too.

5. Spend Time Taking Care Of You

aromatherapy bathThis is perhaps the most important step of all. As you age, you can sometimes get caught up in taking care of others— spouses, children, or ageing parents for example.

But in order for you to remain mentally and physically young, taking care of yourself is also necessary.

No matter how busy you may be, make sure you take a few minutes out of your day to do something you love.

And then every now and then, take a day off from those around you and do an activity which helps you relax, whether this is a spa retreat, or a trip to the coffee shop with your favorite book.

You’ll be surprised at how much having a little time to yourself boosts your morale and your mental health.

Conclusion

Remember that your body needs you to take care of it, especially as you age.

Overall, age is just a number, and once you realize that, the sky is the limit as long as you keep yourself in a positive mindset.

So, go out and try new things, learn a new skill, and spend time taking care of yourself, and you’ll soon be feeling, and acting, younger than your age.

To end, here’s one of my favorite quotes:-

“To insure good health: Eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life.”

― William Londen
