Or, Why I LOVE Eco Bamboo
Oh, where do I start on why I love eco bamboo so much?
1. It’s green and eco friendly
Well, of course! Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world – so we can harvest it, and it re-grows quickly – and it doesn’t need pesticides to thrive. It supports animals, birds and insects, provides shade, recycles nutrients, prevents erosion and stores water.
2. Eco Bamboo is Versatile
It can be used in construction, because it’s very strong and yet light. It’s also flexible – after a 1992 earthquake in Limon, Costa Rica, the only houses left standing were those made from bamboo. It’s not just for building houses – it offers great flooring options, and lots of kitchen accessories are now made from bamboo.
3. Bamboo Clothes and Sheets feel fabulous!
I love the look of bamboo growing, but as clothing, it just feels SO good! (But it’s not all good – more later). Genuine bamboo clothing retains the plant’s natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, so bamboo clothing is sustainable and eco friendly, comfortable, odour-absorbing, breath-able, and even bio degradeable!
The feel of bamboo fabric is often described as a cross between silk and cashmere.
Is Eco Bamboo Perfect?
No. Like everything else, it has its pros and cons. I talk about the issues with bamboo in my next post. I’ll tell you what to look out for, so you’ll know you’re buying The Right Stuff.
